From looking at the pictures of the Zune, which is due out this holiday season, I am loving the screen on this baby. I think it beats out the design of the Ipod hands down.

But what about the security? Its an idea that I had thought of prior to reading a blog article about the Zune and Linux. But looking at it from the perspective of Microsoft, it seems like this is going to be more of a PDA than anything, which means running Linux on it should be much more of an easier process than writing a highly-customized Linux Kernel such as the one in the Ipod Linux.

Currently, I am the owner of a Motorola M500, which at the end of the day gets the job done. I can listen to my music on the go, but what about those videos? And with the advent of Flash 9 beta for Linux, we’d definitely be in business with downloadable movies on the go in Flash format, along with the general support for other formats.

But don’t get me wrong when I say that Linux on the Zune would be a must-have in my tiny world of very few must-haves.

Let’s see it happen.
